The 2nd Diary is inscribed on the front endpaper by the author as being his own copy and not for sale. It notes the edition and distinguishes it from the second. Subsequently the book passed into the possession of Walter Stone and the author then inscribed on the title page: "This copy is owned by Walter Stone.
